Tamil
Nadu is in south of India and is bounded north by Karnataka and Andhra
Pradesh,east and south by Indian Ocean and west by Kerala. The principle
language of the state is Tamil.
The biggest
central sector project is Salem steel plant. Cotton textiles is one
of the major industries. Other important industries are cement, sugar,
manufacture of textile machinery, power driven pumps, bicycles, electrical
machinery, tractors, motorcars, rubber tyres and tubes, bricks and
tiles and silk. Main exports are cotton goods, tea, coffee, spices,
engineering goods, motorcars ancillaries, leather and granite.
There
are air ports at Chennai, Tiruchiraplli and Madurai. Madras and Tuticorn
are the chief ports. Important minor ports are Cuddalore and Nagapattinam.
